Our Auction Process

At True North Estate Liquidation, we specialize in providing high-quality online estate sales that help you get the most value for your items. Whether you're downsizing, moving, or handling a loved one's estate, we're here to help.  Our auction process is simple.  In the first week we start sorting & organizing all the items, taking pictures, writing our descriptions and adding them to our online auction platform.  A few days later the online auction starts and runs for 7 days.  The following weekend the auction pick up occurs at the same location.

Step 1: Sorting & Organizing

Our goal is to help you get the most value for your items, while making the process as stress-free as possible.  When you have decided on what items are going in the auction, we walk through and start the sorting and organizing process.  We go room to room grouping items together which helps us determine how many auction lots we will have.

Q: What are auction lots?

A: It's where we decide if an item is by itself or grouped together with others.

Step 2: Taking Pictures

Picture time!  Once all the items are sorted and organized, we then start taking pictures.  Getting close up's, different angles, measuring and documenting if there is any damage.  Letting our customers know exactly what they are bidding on is very important to us.   We can take up to 20 pictures on one auction lot depending how detailed the item is.   Once the pictures are taken, we assign a lot number specific to that item which will determine its placement in the auction.

Step 3: Writing Descriptions

This is where we list all measurements, highlighting the features such as color, style, material, brands or manufactures.

Step 4: Upload to Auction Website

Once photos are taken and descriptions are written everything is loaded into our custom auction platform.

This online platform is very easy for the bidder to navigate. Our auction bidders are notified through text and email when they have been outbid allowing them to increase their bid.  This process helps to keep bidders excited and engaged in the auction.

Step 5: Marketing

We advertise on multiple different platforms such as, Estate Sales.net, Estate Sales.org, Instagram and Facebook.  This proactive advertising approach allows us to reach thousands of possible bidders.

Step 6: Auction Pick Up Day

Every winning customer has a scheduled time to pick up their items.  Our team will check people in, walk them to their item(s) and make sure they have the help they need to remove the item safely.  In 4 hours, all the auction items will be gone !
